Our Team

Our chef is Ryan who is also locally sourced and home grown he runs our kitchen and produces our seasonal menu sourcing local produce to give you the best in pub classic dishes without any twists just how it is simple and classic – home cooked traditional dishes.

Ryan also runs a weekly specials board again using local seasonal produce, this is where there may be a twist or two, we use local game from Cartmel valley, our meat is sourced from the Cumbrian fells, we welcome Docker Duck Egg Co to our menu who produce our free range duck eggs, these ducks roam freely across meadows in the Docker valley overlooking Lakeland and How gill fell, duck eggs have more protein than hen eggs. All the sauces are gluten free as well as the freshly prepared soups, we use a gluten free fryer for our chips using real potatoes, peeled by a real person our Chef Ryan these are cut to a medium thickness, we do have fries if you prefer but cannot cook these in the gluten free fryer, during the months of July to September good sized decent potatoes are harder to source so we will use frozen from LambWeston who don’t just see a potato they see possibilities.

Our small front of house team are all from the surrounding area and have a wealth of experience of what to see and where to visit, we also have a book available with local walks, not far from the pub is Beckside a 9 hole golf course where you can pay and play.
